Anya Mckee

Anya is a Sydney based dancer and dance maker who explores the world through movement. A WAAPA BA Arts (Dance) Honours graduate (2011), Anya has worked as a dancer with Kate Champion’s Force Majeure for ‘Culminate’ and ‘Game of Seven’ (CarriageWorks, 2012 & 2013), Sam Chester’s ‘Safety in Numbers’ (Riverside Theatres, 2014), Dean Walsh’s ‘Invasive Species’ (World Parks Congress, 2014), performed along-side Chunky Move in Gideon Obarzanek’s ‘Assembly’ (Sydney Festival, 2012), and performed with Kohzensha Butoh Company Artistic Director Yukio Waguri (Parade Theatre, February 2014). Anya has also danced for Lisa Griffiths and Sue Healey as part of 2013 choreographic residencies  (Ausdance NSW & Queen St Studios).

January 2013 Anya’s work ‘Fit To Shift’ was selected to be shown in National dance festival Dance Massive ‘Open Studios’ section. After receiving residences from Ausdance NSW and TASDANCE, in October 2013 ‘Fit To Shift’ became part of Dance Makers Collective’s premier season at Riverside Theatre. One of DMC’s 10 founding artists, Anya continues to work with the collective.

Anya’s dance-film ‘The Door’ (2011) has been screened at NexT International Film Festival (Bucharest, Romania, 2012) and Third Coast Dance Festival (Houston TX, 2012).
