Description
Studio A is our large multipurpose studio space, equipped to host rehearsals, classes and small studio showings.
- Large sprung floor, with grey harlequin studio flooring (not suitable for heels, tap or flamenco shoes).
- L-shaped room 14.5m x 7.4m/9.4m + storage space (122sqm) – max capacity 30 people.
- Mirrored back wall.
- Back wall curtain coverings of black and white via double track.
- Sound system with aux cord (adaptors included) and USB connections via ZEDi-8 hybrid compact mixer.
- LED TV with HDMI connection.
- 4x BEAMZ led par can lights (additional hire fee required).
- Short throw and long throw projectors. (additional hire fee required).
- Stools, collapsible chairs for showings.
- Reverse cycle air-conditioning.
Studio rates
Individual (1 person)
Hire rates for individuals working independently (i.e. alone, with nobody else present in the studio with them), without any secured financial support (for example government funding, commissions or patronage.) This could include solo rehearsals; research or creative development time; class preparation; solo training; or content creation.*^
Small group (2-5 people)
Hire rates for a group of between 2 and 5 people, without any secured financial support (for example no government funding, commissions or patronage) or where no money is earned from the activity (i.e. it is not a paid dance class). This could include small unpaid group rehearsals; unpaid research or creative development time; unpaid small group training; or unpaid content creation.*^
Large group (6-20 people)
Hire rates for a group of between 6 and 20 people, without any secured financial support (for example no government funding, commissions or patronage) or where no money is earned from the activity. This could include unpaid group rehearsals; unpaid research or creative development time; unpaid group training; or unpaid content creation.*^
Individual or group of up to 20 people with funding, or where activity is generating income to the hirer (e.g. paid dance classes)
Hire rates for one or more people working in the studio space where there is financial investment in the activity (for example government funding, commissions or patronage) or the person booking the space is charging people to join them. This could include a funded creative development or residency project; a public class, competition, or showcase rehearsal where participants are being charged to participate; or for dance auditions.*
Groups of 21 or more, commercial or private activity
Hire rates for hirers using the studios where the activity involves 21 or more people (Studio A only), or for non-dance activity, such as for photography shoots; seminars; screenings; private gatherings; auditions where there are greater than 21 registrations (Studio A only); writers talks; book launches etc.*+

* rates of hire are for use of the studio space and sound equipment only, LED lights can be hired at an additional hourly rate and a projector for a flat rate per booking
^ for unfunded activities with 20 or less people, hirers can access a 30% discount on rates by becoming a DMC Community Member
+ for commercial, private or large group hirers, a representative from LOT7 will contact you for further information to assess the suitability of your hire once a booking has been made. Please note that the capacity for Studio B is restricted to small groups of people, therefore it is not suitable for events, only small private activity such as photography shoots. We reserve the right to reject a booking if it is deemed unsuitable, issuing the hirer with an immediate and full refund of their booking.

Terms and conditions
Access to LOT7
- All hirers are to read through the Induction and Studio use document.
- If it is your first hire, a Dance Makers Collective representative will call you/meet you to induct you into the space.
Payment
- The hirer agrees to pay for the space prior to the commencement of use.
- Payment will be made at the time of booking using the online shop system or alternatively, payment can be made directly to Dance Makers Collective upon receiving a hire invoice.
Cancellation
- If the hirer wishes to cancel their confirmed hire of the space, 2 days’ notice is required. Cancellations with 2 days’ notice or more incur a 15% administration fee. Cancellations with 2 days’ notice or more can be rescheduled to a later available period within six months from the scheduled date at no additional cost.
- Cancellation with less than 2 days’ notice will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the total hire cost.
- Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a cancellation fee of 100% of the total hire cost.
Hirer Requirements
- Hirers must abide by DMC’s Code of Conduct and any other relevant policies.
- Hirers must maintain and supply evidence of all necessary insurances including public liability and, where working with and/or employing others, volunteer’s insurance, and workers compensation where necessary.
- Hirers are to strictly adhere to the booking times (inclusive of entering and exiting the premises)
- Hirers ensure that they are the lead person managing the hire activity and that they are in attendance to the activity for which the space is hired, unless otherwise specified at the time of booking.
- Hirers must not under any circumstances sub-lease the space to a third party.
- Hirers are to use the space for the activity they have booked for and not use for any other purpose.
- Hirers are to make known to Dance Makers Collective, any damages to property and/or equipment.
- LOT7 is a no smoking space.
- Hirers are to return the space to its condition found at the commencement of hire. This includes tidying the space, returning furniture/props/devices/equipment to original positions, cleaning kitchenette, dishes and surfaces and removing large rubbish items.
- Hirers are responsible for securing the venue. This includes setting the alarm system, locking the cage door and the glass front door, and securing keys in the lockbox.
- The hirer agrees not to mark or attach in any way, to walls, doors, floors, furniture, or fittings in or around the space.
- Hirers must not alter sound systems, lighting, or other electrical fittings.
- Hirers are to switch off all lights, air-conditioners, and power points upon leaving the venue.
Penalties and Termination of Hire
- A hirers’ failure to comply with the terms and conditions above will result in immediate expulsion and cancellation of hire without refund.
- When a hirer fails to comply with their studio booking terms, such as overstaying their booking period, booking under the incorrect booking category (for example, booking for an individual artist and attending the premises with more than one person) or utilising hireable equipment having not paid in advance for it, the hirer will be issued with an invoice payable within one week for the difference plus a 15% administration fee.
- If a hirer is found to not properly secure the building, that is, not alarming the building and/or not locking the front door, the hirer will incur a security charge of $50 payable within a week of issue. If the hirer does not pay the charge, the hirer will be banned from hiring the venue until the fee is paid.
- In cases of damage to the premises and/or equipment, the Hirer will be required to pay any fines, damages, penalties, or charges incurred.
- Dance Makers Collective reserves the right to ban a hirer from future access to LOT7 in serious cases of misconduct.
