Description
MAKE IT HAPPEN – 3-PART SERIES
Make It Happen is a professional and skills development program, designed and delivered by our General Manager Carl Sciberras, for creative practitioners and producers to refine their skills in making project or program ideas happen. Participants in the program are encouraged (though not required) to come with an idea at the ready and can utilise the skills developed throughout the program to consolidate a working project plan around their project idea. For this iteration of Make It Happen, the program is broken down into three focus areas and has been designed to progress from one workshop to the next, however, you can still undertake individual workshops for more focused skills development in any of the three key areas.
Workshop #1 – Context: systems and design thinking, program logic and theory of change
This workshop provides insight into how artists and producers can position their work within the wider landscape, to clearly understand how their work relates to the structures, trends and environments that impact them, and to use this knowledge to their advantage.
Workshop #2 – It’s all about relationships
This workshop focuses on the absolute necessity to prioritise people. All projects, no matter how small, require other people to care, to buy-in and, ideally, to advocate. We will explore strategies to manage critical stakeholders and to reach people through targeted marketing approaches.
Workshop #3 – Project management 101
This workshop is about the nitty gritty delivery of project design and delivery. Once you have clarity about what your project is, who is needed and where it fits in the landscape, then you have to actually deliver it! This session will provide all the basic principles of project management with an approach to create solid project plans to give you the confidence to get to work.
