Daniel (Dani) Ross

Dani (they/them) grew up in the country of New South Wales Australia and did not come to dance until their mid teenage years. After a few of years of dancing at a local studio, it seemed that they had found their life’s obsession. Dani graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts (Dance). During their 4 years in the course they experienced techniques such as Cunningham technique, Body Weather, Contact Improvisation, Improvisation, and The Feldenkrais Method, alongside training in classical partnering technique and Ballet technique. Upon graduating they have joined Dance Makers Collective Future Makers, and performed ‘Two Truths and a Lie’ by Sarah Kinch for Perth Fringe Festival with dancer Kai Taberner.

Their reason for dancing takes references from the ideas of escapism and expressionism based around the human condition, taking inspiration from ideas from myths and choreographers like Martha Graham, Kenneth MacMillan, and Pina Bausch.
