Edie Burgess

Edie (She/Her) is a Gadigal based dancer who grew up on Gumbaynggirr land. Her
multidisciplinary practice spans across contemporary dance, singing, visual art, ceramics, and
acting, with each informing the other. Her practice is especially rooted in dance theatre, with a
strong focus on emotional storytelling and connection to human experiences.
After completing Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year, Edie continues to explore
and challenge the moral tensions and contradictions within society. Through language
,movement and visual curations she seeks to create work that delves into the questions we all
carry, inviting reflection and curiosity.

Fun fact: Edie’s childhood came crashing down when her pet mouse, Marius Pontmercy, ate his
own children.
