Lily Tieu (she/her) is an emerging artist based in Sydney, Australia. Her movement practice
stems from a place of internal consideration influencing moments led with sensitivity and are
further found through improvisation methodologies. She connects deeply to indulging in a
sense of honest storytelling while interacting with generated and existing energies.
She has worked closely with Chloe Leong and Davide Di Giovanni as part of their emerging
dance collective New Old Now (NON) undertaking an apprentice role within their creative
process earlier this year. In 2025, she took part in the Dancenorth Australia secondment
program learning repertoire shaped by connections to natural and environmental
impressions. Lily was named a Top 10 Finalist in Sydney’s Contemporary Dance Open
(CDO) in 2024 and 2025 with the opportunity to perform choreography by Kimball Wong and
Samantha Hines along with her own creations. She was selected by Zee Zunner and
Samantha Hines for a full scholarship into Danceformation 2026 with Georgette
Sofatzis-Xuereb.
She graduated from two years of fulltime at Ev & Bow under the guidance of Sarah Boulter
and Lisa Bowmer attaining a Diploma of Professional Dance in 2025.
Fun Fact – Lily was born in New Zealand and thought she was going to be a soccer player.
That clearly did not happen…
