Registrations open in October 2024

Dance Makers Collective’s Connect program is a 4-day intensive for early career artists and new graduates, designed to help them transition into the professional dance sector. Through classes and workshops in contemporary dance, self-producing, independent career management, improvisation and composition, artists will gain first-hand professional training, learn vital job-ready skills, and build valuable networks and support as they embark on a career in dance.

To ensure the best possible experience, Connect has a limited capacity of 22 participants – when we reach capacity, the program will be closed to registrations.

The program is facilitated by practicing NSW-based artists and producers.  In order to cater the concluding panel session to the needs of the participants, applicants are asked to pose questions to us that will best serve their interests and needs at this time.

DMC will also facilitate two evenings of lo-fi showings of works in progress for participants to share their work with peers and local Sydney artists.

Artist facilitators, workshop leaders and panel members in the program in 2023 included Richard Cilli, Omer Backley-Astrachan, Lee-Anne Litton, Alejandro Rolandi, Martin del Amo, Vicki Van Hout, Jasmin Sheppard, Azzam Mohamed and Jane McKernan, with DMC members Miranda Wheen, Mitchell Christie, Carl Sciberras, Eliza Cooper and Ella Watson-Heath. DMC is committed to equitable programs, if you require financial assistance to participate in the program, or have any other questions, please let us know via email at eo@dancemakerscollective.com.au.
