DMC Dance Hub Commission

Dance Makers Collective x Sydney Fringe

Dance Makers Collective (DMC) are thrilled to partner with Sydney Fringe Festival to support an individual or small group to present a dance work in the 2026 Sydney Fringe Festival. This opportunity is for dance artists based in the Greater Sydney Region to support them to present a new or to restage/redevelop an existing dance work that has not previously been presented in Sydney Fringe.

What’s on Offer

One work will be supported by DMC to present at the 2026 Sydney Fringe Festival Dance Hub program through this initiative. To support the selected work, DMC will provide:

  • Up to two weeks of in-kind studio space at LOT7, Dance Makers Collective, Seven Hills (Darug land) to develop/rehearse the project.
  • A flat financial contribution to the project of $2,500 (ex GST)
  • Mentorship and/or dramaturgical support from a member of DMC

In addition to DMC’s contribution to the project, Sydney Fringe Festival will:

  • Waive the registration fee
  • Provide a base marketing package during the festival for website and EDM inclusions
  • Inclusion in Sydney Fringe Festival Guide in a highlighted position
  • Programming in Sydney Fringe Dance Hub

Applicant Eligibility

All applicants must meet the following criteria to apply:

  • The applicant must be an Australian resident based in NSW
  • The applicant must have a valid ABN
  • The applicant must be over the age of 18

Project Criteria

DMC is committed to providing opportunities that strengthen emerging dance leaders in NSW and bring new dance works to audiences in our city. We’re looking to support a project by an emerging to mid-career artist, or small team of artists, that hasn’t been presented at Sydney Fringe Festival before. It could be an entirely new work, or a restaging or redevelopment of an existing work that has been performed in a context other than Sydney Fringe Festival. It must be a dance project at heart, and could be from any dance discipline, but should be suitable to the context of the Dance Hub. Practically speaking, this means the project should:

  • Be made for or adaptable to a black box venue
  • Be no more than 60 minutes in length with no interval

DMC strongly encourages people from diverse backgrounds, First Nations, CALD and LGBTQIA+ artists to apply.
