Freshly based in Sydney, Heather Maitland is a multi-disciplinary independent specializing in
contemporary dance. They are interested in dance as a means of exchanging stories of
connection with the matter of authentic vulnerability, community and realness at the forefront
of their movement generation.
Having gained their Advanced Diploma in Elite Performance of Dance With Queensland
National Ballet School (2021, 2022), Heather furthered her artistic development with Alonzo
King Lines Ballet (2022, 2023). At the end of 2023, they had performed works by
international choreographers Kayla Faris, Chuck Wilt and Natasha Adorlee.
Recently, Heather has performed for a filmed work in collaboration with CONGIFURATION
CO, choreographed by Katya Gray set to premiere in late May of this year as well as an
exploratory photographic campaign With Adrien Mesko, Artistic Director of NAFF MAG. With
further opportunities on the horizon, Heather is looking forward to working with Opera
Australia in their upcoming season of Carmen (2025).
She looks forward to the remaining months of 2025 with great anticipation, spent refining
their craft and collaborating with Future Makers and Dance Makers Collective.
