Don’t walk home alone at night, but if you must, carry a set of keys in your fist exposing them between your fingers, to defend yourself. Defend yourself, or evolve, into a Wolverine.
Emma Harrison (choreographer/performer), working with Amy Flannery (composer) and Miranda Wheen (dramaturg), team up in a cycle of transformation that subverts and appropriates feminine archetypes, mythology, wolves, pop culture and self-defence, in a solo work that lives somewhere between dance, cabaret, and performance.
Wolverine is a highly physical work exploring critical notions of gender, power, the pervasiveness of feminine archetypes in human stories and the repercussions of these imbalances on women’s bodies.
Wolverine was first developed as part of Rapport, DMC’s international exchange partnership with South East Dance in Brighton, UK.
