DMC Board

DMC is an incorporated association and is a registered charity on the Register of Cultural Organisations. Leading the organisation is our Board of Directors who provide guidance and support to us to help us achieve our company mission.

As a collective-led company, DMC is committed to having strong representation of collective artists on our Board bolstered by exceptional skilled professionals who love what we do.

Our current board consists of five dance artists from the company, and is complimented by five passionate and accomplished professionals whose skills and expertise contribute considerable value to the company.

Sophia Kouyoumdjian

Chair

Sophia has worked in the arts sector for over 15 years across directorial, curatorial and exhibition management roles and is currently the Director of Parramatta Artist Studios and Manager, Cultural Services at the City of Parramatta.

Miranda Wheen

DMC Founding Member and Deputy Chair

Miranda is an independent dancer based in Sydney. She has collaborated with companies and choreographers throughout Australia and internationally, including; Marrugeku, Martin Del Amo, Stalker Theatre, Shaun Parker and Company, Mirramu Dance Company, Dance Makers Collective and Restless Dance Theatre, among others.

Alice Drew

Treasurer

Alice is currently the General Manager, Place Futures, a specialist design strategy team at Lendlease. Alice creates high-performing workplaces for the teams of the future and challenges business leaders to see the opportunities that lie ahead. She is a recognized leader in workplace strategy and business transformation and works with leading Australian corporations and large global businesses.

Karen Burke

Secretary

Karen works for the NSW Department of Education as Director, Educational Leadership for the West Wyalong region in South West NSW. Karen has a wealth of knowledge and experience in education, having worked in the education sector for 30 years.

Carl Sciberras

DMC Founding Member, Board Member and General Manager

Carl is a dance maker, performer, producer, business advisor and teacher from Western Sydney. His works have been presented around Australia in theatres, galleries, museums and site-specific festivals, and in international festivals and biennales. Carl was a participant in the Australia Council’s Future Leaders Program (2017), was the City of Parramatta’s Creative Fellow (2016) and currently sits on the Create NSW Dance & Physical Theatre Artform Board.

Emma Harrison

DMC Member, Board Member and Engagement Officer

Emma is a performer, maker and educator across a multitude of art forms. Primarily working in the world of contemporary dance, Emma’s practice encompasses multidisciplinary works merging dance, sung and spoken voice, improvisation, film and theatre. As a dancer, Emma works with independent choreographers in both Sydney and Perth.

Katina Olsen

DMC Founding Member, Board Member and First Nations Committee Member

Katina is a Wakka Wakka Kombumerri choreographer / performer and also has Norwegian, German and English Ancestry. She has worked throughout Australia, Canada, UK, USA and Europe and was one of Sydney Dance Company’s New Breed Choreographers for 2018.

Robert Love AM

Board Member

Robert is a creative leader with a range of skills and experience within the arts, cultural & education sectors. Robert was the Director of Riverside Theatres for more than 20 years, and has a demonstrated history of working in the performing arts as a venue manager, producer and presenter creating solutions through collaboration, innovation and creativity.

Daniel Posker

Board Member

Daniel is an intellectual property disputes lawyer based in Sydney and Melbourne with over 15 years of intellectual property experience at leading global and boutique law firms in Australia and in the UK.
